How can I improve my vocabulary?

Improving your vocabulary will help you increase your score in every single part of the IELTS test. We have a Vocabulary Course where Chris explains the strategy you need to follow to improve your vocabulary.

Do not memorise lists of vocabulary. This will lead to mistakes when you try to use the new words.

The following video shows you how to find the Vocabulary Improvement Plan in your Vocabulary Course. How to find the vocabulary improvement plan

If you currently do not have access to the Vocabulary Course and would like to add this to your membership, please contact us.

I would suggest that you reorganise your study time to include some daily work on vocabulary, in particular, following the Vocabulary Improvement Plan which is part of the Vocabulary Course.

Here are some other vocabulary improvement resources:

  1. Keep a vocabulary notebook. Here is a video of Olga, one of our past VIP students, showing you how can you keep a vocabulary notebook.
  2. Use the vocabulary-related Challenges & Skills in the VIP Community.
  3. Learn to research vocabulary so that you can check for yourself if your vocabulary is correct.
