I'm scared to write. What should I do?

It is normal to feel intimidated by writing and for it to feel hard at first. Writing is hard, and you will make mistakes in the beginning, but that is ok. The more you write, the easier it will start to feel. Sure, you will probably have to fix grammar and vocabulary mistakes, but we'll tell you exactly what these are what resources to use when you submit your writing for correction, so don't worry about that right now.

Here are some ways you can overcome your fear of writing:

  1. Keep a journal. Write in it every day. You can do this in the morning or before you go to bed. You can write about your day or about your feelings. You can decide to write one page, or you can decide to write for 5 minutes. The only important thing is that you write.

Your journal is just for you. You don't have to show it to anybody, so you don't have to worry about making mistakes. Just get used to writing.

  1. Use writing prompts. Here is a website with 365 different writing prompts. The nice thing about using writing prompts is that it forces you to write about topics you might not be used to writing (or even thinking) about. It will help you identify areas of vocabulary you need to improve.
