How can I use my one minute of preparation time for Speaking Part 2 as effectively as possible?

It's essential that students use their 1 minute of preparation time for Speaking Part 2 wisely, simply because if they do, they'll never have to worry about not being able to speak about any given topic for at least 2 minutes.

The general idea of how you should use this minute is outlined below, but HERE is a video that will explain it to you in greater detail.

To use my 1 minute of Speaking Part 2 preparation time as wisely as possible, I need to:

  1. Immediately jot down my Pt. 2 structure.
  2. Pick my topic as quickly as I can. Which one would be easiest for me to talk about at length?
  3. Start taking notes and try to fill out the structure as much as possible, keeping in mind the following:
  • I’m NOT restricted to the bullet points and can expand the topic in any and all ways that are relevant to the overall topic.
  • I should consider the bullet points to be suggestions. If I don’t feel it will be easy for me to talk about them, I don’t need to include them.
  • my notes should NOT consist of sentences, but only of words and/or short phrases that will help me remember what I am planning to talk about.
  • I can draw lines in between the basic parts of the structure to help me remember when I need to change tenses.
