Should I follow other IELTS advice I find online?
In short, no. There is so much differing advice about how to be successful in IELTS on the internet that it is overwhelming. That doesn't mean all of it is bad, some might be good, but we know that here at IELTS Advantage we have a course that works. We know this because we have the most IELTS Success Stories in the world, and we only give you advice that will help you become an IELTS success too. Having too many different pieces of advice in your mind at the same time can cause you to become stressed and make bad decisions.
That means you definitely should only follow Chris' and our teachers' advice so that you have absolute clarity on the day of the exam, and you know exactly what strategies to follow.
You may even see that IDP and the British Council have their own ways of teaching IELTS, including how to structure Task 2 essays, but they are only suggestions and ideas for students. It's not the only way to do it, and these are NOT instructions for examiners. We know this through extensive research and many years of experience helping our students get IELTS success.
Keep it simple, follow IELTS Advantage's advice, and get the scores you need.
