Where can I find texts that are of a similar difficulty level to the Reading test?

You won't find texts that are exactly the same as Cambridge IELTS Reading practice tests, but it is useful to practice reading texts that are:

  • of a similar genre (for example, not just newspaper articles)
  • of a similar difficulty level (with less common vocabulary and some complicated grammar)

Here are some resources you can use:

  1. Free online university textbooks. There are many different subjects to choose from, so you can practice reading about topics that are unfamiliar to you.
  2. Advanced level reading comprehension texts for English language learners. These are probably a little bit easier than some Academic Reading test texts, but they come with exercises to help you improve your vocabulary.
  3. Longform journalism. These are articles that are typically longer than 1800 words and are more often narrative journalism (factual stories, not just the who/what/where of an event).

Specifically for the General Training Reading test:

Government websites contain many articles with practical information related to everyday life. There are many different topics to choose from.
