What happens in a mock speaking test?
After you finish the Speaking Academy course, you can book a mock speaking test.
You will have a 30 minute 1-on-1 session with a teacher, and your mock speaking test is divided into two parts:
- the test
- your feedback
The test
You will go through the test just like in a real IELTS Speaking test, except that the teacher will take some notes so that they can give you some feedback on your mistakes.
Your feedback
After the test, the teacher will tell you your scores and why you got those scores. They will also tell you what your key mistakes are and how you can fix them. Your key mistakes are the mistakes that you have to fix if you want to increase your score. Fixing your key mistakes takes time, so the teacher will discuss with you how long you should practice before booking your next mock speaking test.
You also have an opportunity to ask the teacher questions about your mock test or your feedback.
You can record your mock speaking test if you join the Zoom meeting using a laptop or computer. This is nice because you can watch the recording and notice yourself making the mistakes that the teacher tells you about.
