Should I write under exam conditions?

You should not write under exam conditions until you are able to get the scores you need.

Why?

Because the most important thing is your score.

Think about this this way: if you fail your Writing test, no one will care if you finished your Task 2 essay in 40 minutes.

Therefore, take as much time as it takes to remove EVERY SINGLE KEY MISTAKE. If you do your best to do this and you still don't get the score you need, it means you haven't learned it yet.

Mistakes are what cause you to fail. Mistakes take time to fix.

First, you need to go slowly and only focus on the quality of your writing. You shouldn't rush through any of the planning stages Chris talks about in Task 2 Module 4 in the Writing Academy course. You should also be referring to your notes so that you don't make any mistakes with the structure required for the question type.

Spend as much time as you need to check your grammar. If you know you struggle with a certain area of grammar, like articles, focus on this in each and every sentence and try to apply the rules as best you can. Then, use the feedback from the teacher to check your understanding of the rules.

After you are able to get the score you need, you can try writing under exam conditions.
