Will the examiner take notes during the IELTS exam?

Yes. The examiner has to write the times for the different stages of the exam in order to make sure that all candidates are given the right amount of time for the different stages of the exam. This means you may notice them writing numbers for the start (and maybe end) times of these stages.

  • They are NOT writing your marks!
  • They will only decide on and write down your marks AFTER you have left the exam room!

When you have a mock speaking test with us at IELTS Advantage, the teacher will also take notes so that they can give you some feedback on your key mistakes and share specific examples with you.
