What is global feedback, and how can I use it to improve my scores?
You will find this in the VIP Community. Global feedback is feedback on common key mistakes and how to fix them that all students can benefit from.
Students who make progress the fastest listen to the global feedback and apply it to their own writing and speaking. They can notice if they ever make the same common mistakes and then stop making them.
Most students make the same types of key mistakes. Here are some examples of common types of key mistakes:
Writing:
- articles
- incorrect, fancy-sounding vocabulary
- irrelevant examples
Speaking:
- lots of words but not very much information
- repeating the same ideas
- verb tenses
For Writing, use the recorded Live Cambridge Lessons and Feedback Sessions and the Task 2 Global Feedback channel to see what mistakes the teacher mentions and then check your own writing to see if you have made any of the same mistakes.
For Speaking, use the recorded Speaking Examiner Seminars to understand what an examiner expects in Parts 1, 2 and 3, and see what mistakes students make that stop them from getting a Band 7 or higher. Then, record yourself and check your own speaking for any of the same kinds of mistakes.
Remember, if you can learn to notice mistakes that other students make and you understand why and how the teacher corrected them, then you can apply the same to your own writing or speaking.
